Essential oils are the very foundation of the Paltz brand. Our complete range of our products is based on them.
60 varieties of natural care with essential oils
We prepare all of our cosmetic care products with the most active extracts of aromatic plants: essential oils. Brimming with active ingredients, essential oils decompose into several hundreds of molecules that act in synergy.
Mastery and perfect knowledge of these active concentrates is required to ensure optimal effectiveness.
Definition of essential oils
An essential oil is a volatile and odoriferous substance secreted by aromatic plants. They are secreted from intercellular cavities that are as likely to be found in the aerial parts (flowers, leaves, stems and branches) as in the subterranean organs (roots, rhizomes).
Processes for obtaining essential oils
We can distinguish 2 major modes of extraction of essential oils: - steam distillation for aromatic plants The specific plant is submerged in a still filled with water. The steam penetrates the plant and frees the aromatic molecules (volatile substances) that condense. Due to a difference in density, essential oil separates from the floral water. - citrus fruit essence extraction (zests)
A mechanical process that allows extraction of the essence of the ruptured intercellular cavities of citrus fruit zests by centrifuging. These 2 processes guarantee absolute purity of the essential oil and allow preservation of each and every active molecule.
Our Quality Criteria
Purity Our essential oils are: 100% pure: they are not diluted, not thinned and not cut with other oils. 100% natural: they are not denatured by mineral essences, synthetic molecules, emulsifiers, thinners, and they contain no preservatives, pesticides or any other chemical product. Total: they contain the totality of the aromatic principles. They are neither rectified, nor decoloured, nor recoloured, nor terpenless, nor treated with peroxide and they undergo no treatment that may alter or modify their natural composition. Identity The type, the species, the sub-species and the very botanical variety together with the distilled parts are clearly identified. Chemotype The chemotype or biochemical component has its own distinctive characteristics that must be clearly defined (terpenes, phenols, aldehydes, ketones, acids, esters, lactones). Origin The country of origin and the geographical sector of growing and harvesting may be decisive factors in the chemical composition of the essential oil. The plants are harvested at the precise moment at which they develop the maximum content of aromatic principles. The origin of each and every one of our essential oils is thus specified.
Essential Organic Oils
All of our "AB" oils are the product of carefully monitored organic culture and are certified by Ecocert, an independent organisation.
The Virtues of Essential Oils
Each essential oil has its own virtues and harbours an infinite power: antiseptic, soothing, stimulating, relaxing, anti-age, moisturizing, purifying, anti-infective. They may also be used in all facets of aromatherapy (baths, inhalations, massages...)
The Definition of Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is a technique that consists of using essential oils (the active principle in plants) within the scope of care. It uses the plants’ natural properties by distillation of their essences. Essential oils act either by external application, by diffusion of their fragrance, or by aromatisation.
How to Use Essential Oils
The essential oils that appear on this site are intended to be used for the pleasant fragrance that they release and to contribute to your well-being (aromachology). Of course, they can also be quite useful in the treatment of certain conditions of physical or psychological ill-being (aromatherapy).
They also lend themselves to various other purposes : In atmospheric diffusion Diffuse essential oils with the help of our special aromatherapy diffuser. It reproduces the mechanism of wind in nature to make the pouches of essential oil burst at the surface of the leaves. Ionisation is the effective method for diffusing essential oils (without degrading them while preserving all of their active principles). This process (resembling aerosol) transforms the essential oils into millions of ionised micro-particles that diffuse in a few seconds. This is not simply the fragrance but the totality of the oil’s properties that are reproduced in a fine mist. Cutaneous Application A base of neutral oil is generally used and a fairly significant percentage of essential oil is incorporated according to the essences and the desired effect. Other than a few rare essential oils, we formally advise you not to ever directly apply essential oils on the epidermis. For Massage Massage is the quickest means of taking advantage of the benefits of oils. Use them blended with vegetable oil such as sweet almond. In an aromatic bath A bath in essential oils leaves you relaxed and with a feeling of well-being. Careful, though, most essential oils are not naturally water-soluble, so they are quite difficult to add to bath water. Many solutions are available for facilitating dilution of essential oils in water, without altering their properties. Dispersants or neutral bases allow incorporation of the essential oils.
Preservation of Essential Oils
To preserve their active ingredients, our essential oils are preserved in small blue tinted flasks. Keep them away from light and heat. The flasks should be closed after every use.
